amateur interview tips

So you think you can interview

I thought I'd make a list of cool tips and tricks I've thought  and used for interviews. I've had two interviews and nailed them both, so I hope I can be of service to you :))) (no particular order)

1. eye contact👀

I read this in my textbook once. I struggle with it but its very important. I think it gives trusting eyes and kind of sort of identification if that makes any sense. DO NOT STARE just look at them when they talk to you.

2. appropriate dressing

This is really important and can mean so many things. Before I get into it, the most important part is to make sure they are clean! Now if you're applying at a very casual place like a food truck, dress more casual vs an extremely fancy restaurant, where your gonna kind of want to dress to impress. Make it count, jewelry, specific shoes, all can help you so be mindful.

3. NO fidgeting

This one is so tempting. I get that. But, a lot of times it is simply distracting and makes the interviewer feel uneasy. That is the last thing you want. So I advise against that.

4. NATURAL

Be yourself. Smile. I always say make it like a conversation. Try not to get sweaty or robotic. Don't be afraid to laugh.

5. be alert!

Simple. Look interested even if they're talking about dry paint! Head nods are a great way of doing this and I saw in a tiktok that when they say do you have any questions. Feel free to say yes and asked. It cant get more engaged than that. An example of a question is "what does the perfect worker look like for you?" When you look bored it makes the person hiring feel as though they wasted their time. LISTEN and hear them out NO CUT OFFS.

6. come prepared

Make sure you have answers to universal interview questions like {tell me about you, what's your availability etc.} Don't be calculated and memorize word for word what you are going to say. Just think about it and ask a family member to practice with you. Also know the position/place you're applying for. Like don't look shocked and for sure know what you are getting yourself into.

7. friendly to everyone (not just the employer)

When doing an interview live by this saying. "your interview starts the second you walk through the door" This means engage everyone as if they were your interviewer. Be nice. Talk to your potential coworkers and make them like you. Unless they're busy then just smile and wave. Their opinion of you is more important than you think; first impressions are everything. Don't hesitate to make conversation in downtime.

8. know how to brag on yourself

There could be several questions just about you and your life. YES LISTEN TO THEM but also not bragging but talking up your credentials could separate you from another hopeful.

9. open minded
They may be looking for someone versatile. And to push boundaries. Try this instead of saying "no I've never done that before." If they ask out of your scope say "no but I'm willing to learn" Those affirmations can assure them your ready to be tasked. During the process dont ever look discouraged look excited.

10. good posture
No slouching!

11. confidence=key!

You've put in an application or you got yourself an interview. The hard part is over. You know yourself better than anyone. You know that you're hardworking intelligent etc. C'mon show them that, and exude. Be sure of yourself, you can it. If you couldn't tell its all up to YOU. Good luck out there. Sky is the limit 💫

Can't force the feeling

In this life there is literally so much you can do to better yourself. Take me for example, this year I've done so much. BLESSED. But seriously i study very hard for cma tests, I work hard at the restaurant, I'm trying to build merit from being the vp of class and the secretary of student government. And so much more like buying my whole family gifts. Now, why is this important? I've had experiences with love. But as of now I don't have a growing receptive love. I don't have the I love you back.

This brings me into our topic. Love cannot be acquired. Love cannot be bought. In true definition of work, organic love cannot be worked for. Worked on but not worked for. I think about it and you have to grind. You must get up early. You have to work that muscle, get that summer body. With enough determination you can do it. But, when it comes to the worlds best feeling in the world. What I perceive as gods greatest gift: There is no blueprint. LOVE has no blueprint. As painful as that sounds, its the cold hard truth. There is no map that will find you your honey, get him to feel for you back. And its crazy. That has to be the worlds greatest chase. We suppress ourselves, and we pretend we do not care. Don't act like I'm crazy. Please listen. I'd like to cite a quote from famous rapper J.Cole, he once said:

"money can't buy you love because its overpriced," Now I wouldn't say its overpriced but truly is a battle and not for the weak. Nothing any form of compensation can buy. I truly get upset thinking of some of the greatest, most accomplished people are lonely. They have yet to find it but they will, everyone will. It just will always mind boggle that some of the worst people still have love and us good ones feel lost. The freaking joker got Harley Quinn and we all know couples like that... makes me wonder. I know everything happens for a reason but when it comes to "getting" love. Is it random? Is there a birth order? Is there such a thing as worthiness? We don't know, We may never know, but I'll admit its better that way.

So now I open up the question to my peers/readers. How do you believe love (real life love!) is gained?

P.S. I hope you enjoyed and I look forward to talking about some of my experiences. And I'm gonna make a post about how I actually view love and like soulmates the whole nine yards. I actually am in a super good mood, and I'm  hoping this provoked your thoughts NOT made you sad. HA have a fine day

SUMMER 21'

HEY ALL! I've been thinking a lot toward the future. And of course summer is on my mind. I thought I'd share a few of my goals. Nothing too personal. But here goes! 😎

1.  Change up my do!

This summer, I'm looking for a bit of a change. A change in my physical appearance wouldn't hurt... I'm getting older and in the workforce you sometimes can't stray from the status quo. SO, that means this is our time to experiment. I'm super excited and hopefully I love it.

2. Work at a cool summer setting *in addition to the one I have now*

I like my job but I don't get a ton of shifts and that's okay. But, I'd also love to be in a place that reminds me of summer. Like an ice cream parlor for example. Scooping ice cream, dealing with the mob looks so fun. And also very simple. A cool area, a fun friend next to me. What can be better? I like the idea of working at the beach. A little harder. And I think working at the ferry is a cool summer job. Learn about boats, work near the water, watch the magic happen. epic. dude. bro. bro whatever you'd like to be called. SO MANY MORE but there's a few #foodforthought.

3. Visit colleges 🏁

It's coming down to the time to start thinking of college sadly but not sadly. I've visited Fordham and it was awesome. You meet outgoing guides and see the college life. It teaches you what you like and don't like about school. You can also meet the important admins to your future college. I'd call it classic networking. Luckily, you also get that merch. CANT WAIT!

4. Beach at night🌞🌞

I went once and it was unforgettable. IMMACULATE better than anything. Better than average. The slight chill⛆The empty terrain🌅The night sky☆ never from my mind.

5. New friend group??
Currently on the phone with Ella plus Lianna. WOULDNT it be cool to meet people from other schools. Other school cultues. Maybe boys to change the vibe? Lets hope I think meeting people is simple, and everyone wants new friends. Adventures, new houses, new vibes. "I'd like to see it."

6. Dress up nights

Every person loves to get dolled up. And I want to show off those cute fits. I think its great for pictures and calls for amazing memories. SO READY :)))

7. Run 4 sureee

I'm on the track team so I'd call that my main motivator. On the other hand, I love exercise and being outside. Something about those miles man. The scenery too is just really exciting.

8. Write

I've always loved and wrote poetry. And i want do it more frequently. Poetry is just almost my love language and an easy way to express yourself. Also I'd love to continue my blog and documenting my thoughts and life. I think putting things into words as Ella would say is really healthy and great for development. I hope that I can do cool things with writing and my writing style.

9. Get Involved

This is something I've been wanting for a long time. I want to either join a campaign or get involved in local politics. Learn the ropes. Like I would like to spread the word or help with a huge organization like congress or the mayor. It would be awesome, time consuming but something I'd love to do 2021 or 2022 (even though this is a summer mood board.)
10. miscellaneous
definition: mixed; consisting of several things; of diverse sorts

I don't know exactly what's going to happen. No one does, I never want to give up. Or stop expressing myself. Shooting for the stars. And that's my main goal, sure I have to desire but I always no matter the season want to think the sky is the limit. I truthfully believe we are capable of anything and going forward I see to it that I make it happen. Push those boundaries. Erase any stupid "comfort zone." Every second is a chance and I'm the rapper TEHE.

making paper

Okay so I kind of wanna talk about just having a job🤑 Maybe why you should get one. WAIT I'm gonna make a post about interviews later on it'll be a guide. BUT first, I have to start with I'm so grateful and thankful to have a job. OKKKK. So being a teen with a job is nice because 9/10 its low risk and pretty nice reward. Random being behind the counter is fire. You get a pretty neat uni even if its McDonalds', I work at an Italian Grill so its all black. But what can I say. I like the responsibility. Greeting people is so fun. Think about everyone is going through stuff and you just want a warm face. Not even gonna cap I've been yelled at. a little. NO A LOT. But you learn. I like making a family from the staff. Learning customer service and business. The random old lady compliments help. It honestly feels like making use of your time. And, I'll admit you feel pretty cool🥂🥂🥂 Even washing tables just becomes second nature. You get so much life experience and something on that job resume. Not to mention my best friend there is like 50. SHOUT OUT JIM. Cancelling on friends is annoying. Balancing school is annoying. But I wouldn't change it. A huge benefit is being able to buy yourself stuff. Call em Ms.Independent! I've got myself meals, shoes, second pair of air pods. It's taking a load off your parents. I'm not even gonna lie another thing I like is meeting people. I work with some older kids. And have learned a lot. Heres a challenge: when in a new place HONESTLY just kind of develop a crush or a friend crush. Thats saved me so much. Gave me something to look foward to. Hey sometimes you gotta put away dishes but making the people around you proud is GOD TIER. makes me feel so adult.

first post prompt

 IF I WAS FAMOUS

I live for the crowd. the attention. And I would never get tired of it! I'm the type of person to run into a crowd no matter how dangerous. How hungry that crowd is. Its that adrenaline rush that i chase on a day to day basis. I'm into shock factor, people talking. I want to be the Kim and Kanye. Do you guys remember when they used the paparazzi for free promo? quite genius! I'm into the imaging too. Like every look is calculated. I'd be excited to dress for the Grammys or a dinner with Kourtney or my charity Ellen event! I think about the designer dresses I'd be available to any he style. You know, I enjoy the idea of being able to google pictures of myself. What you don't know is how badly I want it. Even seeking past the money, I would enjoy giving my fans snippets and the symbolism. Publishing my first book. DOING interviews for my movie. You see, I don't know exactly what I would be famous for. But, I think I'd be darn good at it. And of course I'd pay it forward. Every freaking day. remember when Nicki payed for her fans colleges. I want to save lives at that by donating and traveling to work hard.I wouldn't just spread awareness I'd actually use my power to get things done. If we're talking internet fame I'd go live every day. I'd sit on the stream for hours talking, answering questions, doing shout outs. Most of my time being a famous person would be planning on how to be even more famous. Planning on destroying the internet. Photo shoots are cool AND MUSIC video ideas from my own brain. Like some music videos could be almost a movie like thriller or blank space. I'm not afraid of drama or backlash because people will always talk. I would love to live in everyone's mind for however long you'll allow me. I'd throw huge events of my own and even washed up I'd never go home.

Special shout out to Paige K because she helped inspire this post.
